Administering Medicines

Medicines should not be brought into school if at all possible. If medicines have to be taken during school hours the following procedure must be followed.

The parent / carer should ask the dispensing pharmacist for a second labelled empty container for school use only.

The parent / carer should give the medicine to the designated person on arrival at school with written instructions.

The minimum amount of medicine should be brought into school.

Medicine should not be given to the child to take to school without knowledge of the designated person.

Children should be discouraged from bringing throat sweets to school. If a parent thinks that they really are necessary then a note must be sent in with the sweets for them to be taken at break times.

Procedures are in place for those children who require medication on a daily basis. Please ensure you inform the office regarding any changes in medication for your child.
